This bag had been on my wishlist for a long time, and finally owning it has shown me that it truly deserves the attention it gets.
After eight months of regular use, I can confidently say that the Sicily Large has delivered on both style and practicality.
I chose the Sicily Large in warm brown pebbled leather, specifically preferring it over the smooth leather version. The textured finish has proven to be an excellent choice for everyday use, and I’ll explain why as well as how the bag has held up over the past eight months.

Why I Chose Pebbled Leather Over Smooth Leather

Seeing the Dolce & Gabbana Sicily bag in person for the first time helped me decide which leather finish would suit my lifestyle best.
Durability was one of the biggest reasons I chose pebbled leather. It is more resistant to scratches and visible marks, so I don’t have to be overly careful when my keys touch the surface or the bag accidentally brushes against furniture.
The natural grain of the leather also helps hide small imperfections, allowing the bag to maintain its polished appearance even with regular use.
Another advantage is its structure. The Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Large has a distinctive, defined shape, and the pebbled leather helps maintain that structured silhouette.
I’ve owned softer leather bags that gradually lost their shape, but this one continues to look crisp and well-defined. It also feels sturdy and luxurious in hand and remains upright when I place it down instead of collapsing.
Smooth leather has its own elegant appeal, but for an everyday handbag, I find pebbled leather much easier to live with. It offers the luxurious appearance I wanted without requiring constant care.
Design and Hardware Details

The Sicily Large is an especially beautiful bag, and the combination of warm brown leather with gold hardware gives it a timeless appearance.
Because I wear plenty of gold jewelry, I love how naturally the hardware works with my accessories without making the overall design feel excessive.
The hardware feels substantial and well made without adding unnecessary weight. The clasps, rings, and small engraved plaque on the front all have a refined finish that adds to the bag’s overall quality.
One detail I particularly appreciate is the metal feet on the bottom.

These small gold studs keep the leather elevated when the bag is placed on a surface, reducing direct contact with tables, benches, and other surfaces.
It may seem like a minor feature, but it makes the bag much more practical for everyday use and helps protect the bottom from unnecessary wear.
Functionality and Features

A handbag can look beautiful, but if it isn’t practical, it won’t become a regular part of your wardrobe. Fortunately, the Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Large offers plenty of usable space.
There is enough room for my matching wallet, a book, sunglasses in a hard case, several lip products, my phone, keys, and other everyday essentials, with some space still available.
The wide opening makes it easy to see the contents and reach what I need without constantly searching through the bag.
The interior is also well organized, with several useful storage options:
- An open slip compartment for items that need to be reached quickly.
- A card slot for transit cards, IDs, or other small cards.
- A zippered pocket above the card slot for valuables, receipts, or other small belongings.
These compartments make it much easier to keep everything organized, especially during busy days.

The bag also includes both a top handle and a detachable shoulder strap. I enjoy carrying it by the top handle when I’m dressed up because it gives the bag a particularly elegant appearance.
For everyday errands and travel, however, the shoulder strap is much more convenient. It attaches and detaches easily, while the clasps feel sturdy and secure.
The Leopard-Print Lining

The leopard-print lining is one of those bold details that reflects Dolce & Gabbana’s glamorous design aesthetic.
I don’t usually choose loud prints for my clothes, but I enjoy having something more daring inside a handbag. It feels like a small hidden detail that adds personality without dominating the exterior.
Most people won’t see the lining when I’m carrying the bag, but I notice it every time I open it. The contrast between the classic brown exterior and the leopard print makes the interior feel more distinctive.
The lining also feels smooth and durable. Even with books, cases, and other items inside the bag, it has held up well and doesn’t feel delicate or prone to tearing.
The Branding

The understated branding was another feature that attracted me to this particular version of the Sicily.
The Dolce & Gabbana name appears on a small plaque at the center of the flap, while the rest of the exterior remains relatively minimal.
Some seasonal or outlet versions feature much larger branding, but I personally prefer a more subtle approach. The smaller plaque gives the bag a refined appearance that feels less tied to a particular trend.
The interior branding is equally discreet. The words “Dolce & Gabbana” are subtly printed near the bottom of the leopard-print lining, creating a small detail that is easy to miss but adds to the overall luxury feel.
Matching Wallet

The matching wallet is a natural companion to the Sicily Large and works particularly well with the bag’s warm brown color and elegant design.
Keeping the wallet coordinated with the handbag creates a polished, put-together look without requiring much effort. It also fits comfortably inside the spacious interior alongside my other daily essentials.
